Our recommendation

Buy the GPCB329 if heavy bar work, broad shoulders, or a decade of hard use are in view. Buy the PPB32X if your curls are a regular but moderate part of a home program. The training effect at moderate loads is closer than the price gap suggests, which is exactly why both exist.

Pad support at load

The Pro pad is wider and denser, holding its shape when a heavy bar pulls you into it. The PowerLine pad is correct in angle and adequate in density for home loads, with its edges found sooner by broad lifters.

Cradle confidence

Reracking a heavy EZ bar onto the Pro feels like a non event. On the PowerLine it is fine at working loads and increasingly deliberate as loads climb. Your top sets decide which description you need.

Footprint and ownership

The Pro claims noticeably more floor and costs far more to buy and to ship. The PowerLine fits spare rooms, moves easily, and carries the same family warranty logic at a home grade level.

Choose Body-Solid GPCB329 Pro Preacher Curl Bench if…

  • Preacher curls are a main lift in your program
  • You are broad across the shoulders or curl heavy
  • You buy equipment on a ten year horizon

Choose Body-Solid PowerLine PPB32X Preacher Curl Bench if…

  • Arm work is important but not your heaviest training
  • Floor space is shared with other equipment
  • You want the warranty without the commercial price

FAQ

Questions, answered straight

Will I outgrow the PPB32X?

Only if your curl strength or your frame size grows into the heavy class. Most home lifters never do, and the bench's resale is straightforward if you become the exception.

Is the Pro worth it for dumbbell only training?

Rarely. Its advantages peak with a loaded bar. Dumbbell specialists get the same pad width benefit from cheaper broad pad options in this guide.

Do both fit an EZ bar the same way?

Both are designed around curl bars. The Pro cradle simply tolerates heavier, faster reracks with less movement and less noise.
